The pi can use many different USB wifi dongles but it is best to purchase from a supplier who states that the wifi dongle is compatible. This can save time having to install and configure non standard drivers.

If the pi will be near to your router then you can attach an Ethernet cable direct from the router to the pi instead of using wifi.

Prices of wifi dongles can be as low as £3 but you should always check they are compatible with the pi before purchase
